Gardening is a favorite 3-season occupation of many owners at Belmont, and we all enjoy viewing the common areas with the variety of trees and shrubs. This year we added a rain barrel (with a plant on top) to one of our garden areas. Walking down to the Big Red Lighthouse to see the sailboat races is a relaxing evening trek. Belmont is surrounded by forested areas and we often see deer in the woods behind our fence. We had a pair of Mallard ducks set up their nest here, and a box turtle and even a peacock have come to visit. We still don't know where the peacock came from! Each year Belmont has a potluck picnic, and recently we moved the timing from July (when everyone is busy) to September, when we gather to toast the end of another beautiful summer.
